Boys & Girls Clubs of Utah County Dig AmeriCorps Week Provo – May 11, 2009 – Boys & Girls Clubs of Utah County employees and AmeriCorps members plant beautiful flowers in the down town Provo flower beds in an effort to beatify the community. Boys & Girls Club efforts were part of a national service week spearheaded by AmeriCorps members.
This was the third annual AmeriCorps Week, taking place May 9-16, 2009. AmeriCorps Week provides the perfect opportunity for AmeriCorps members, alums, grantees, program partners, and friends to shine a spotlight on the work done by members—and to motivate more Americans to serve their communities. Many events are happen across the country. Individuals and organizations with a special interest in AmeriCorps—especially, members, programs, and alums—are encouraged to use their creativity to mark the week in any way they see fit.
"This was a great opportunity for Boys & Girls Club employees and AmeriCorps members to serve their community", sayd David Bayles, Executive Director for the Boys & Girsl Clubs of Utah County. "All volunteers inlvolved can feel a sense of pride in knowing that their efforts have added to the majesty of the wasatch front through the beatification of historic downtown Provo."
